- 1⁄2 cup shortening
- 1⁄2 cup butter
- 1 1⁄2 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1⁄4 cup water
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 cup flour
- 3 cups 1‑minute oats
- 1⁄2 cup cocoa
- 1⁄2 tsp. baking soda
- 1⁄2 tsp. salt
- 1 16-oz. pkg. chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 375°.
At medium speed, mix shortening, butter, sugar, egg, water and vanilla.
In a separate bowl, combine flour, oats, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Add gradually to the other ingredients; mix well.
Stir in chocolate chips by hand.
Drop about 1 1⁄2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 — 12 minutes. To check for doneness, touch a cookie; it should spring back and leave almost no imprint.
