Don’t worry: No raisins in this recipe to abuse your trust.
- Ingredients:
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1⁄2 cup flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 3 cups oats
Preheat oven to 350°.
Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs and vanilla and beat until fluffy.
Sift in dry ingredients a little bit at a time; mix well.
Add the oats a little at a time and mix well yet again. If you opted in for the nuts, stir them in by hand.
Place about 1 1⁄2 inches apart on a lightly greased cookie sheet by spoonfuls, or roll the dough into a log cut into 1/4‑inch slices.
Bake at 350° for 15 minutes.
