Don’t be a mere jerk if you can be a soda jerk!
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 15 oz. tomato sauce
- 12 oz. Coke or root beer
- 3 tbsp. vinegar
- 2 tbsp. packed brown sugar
- 2 tsp. Jamaican jerk seasoning
In a medium saucepan, melt butter and cook onion and garlic over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in tomato sauce, cola, vinegar, brown sugar, and jerk seasoning. Bring to boiling; reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
Brush over beef, pork, or poultry.
Makes about 2 3⁄4 cups.
