No one will blame you if you have a couple rum & Cokes while you’re cooking this!
How come vintage ads feature super-creepy kids so often?
- The Ham:
- 6–8 lb. ham, bone in
- 2–3 cans Coke (enough to cover the bottom of the roasting pan, but not touch the ham)
- The Glaze:
- 2 cans Coke
- 3⁄4 cup dark brown sugar
- 1⁄4 cup yellow mustard
- 1⁄4 cup lime juice
- 2 tbsp. dark rum
- 1 tbsp. dry mustard
- Pinch of salt
Preheat oven to 325°.
Bake ham on roasting rack with 2 cans of Coke, tented under foil (don’t touch ham) for 1 hour. Meanwhile make glaze.
Reduce 2 cans Coke for glaze to 1⁄2 cup over medium heat, about 40 minutes. Whisk in remaining ingredients and allow to simmer and dissolve.
After baking ham for 1 hour, uncover it and begin glazing ham, brushing every 15 minutes during the last hour of baking. (Check to make sure there is still Coke in the bottom of the roasting pan; if needed add some).
Remove from heat once ham is 110°. Allow to rest 15 minutes then carve and serve warm.
