How do ya like THEM apples?
- Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 large apples, not peeled
Heat oven to 225°.
Set wire cooling rack on foil. Lightly coat rack with nonstick cooking spray.
Put water and sugar in saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves.
Boil vigorously for 5 minutes until it is a light syrup consistency.
Meanwhile, core and quarter apples. Cut each quarter in 10–12 thin slices.
Put in a large metal bowl and carefully add boiling syrup.
Toss apples with tongs until well coated.
Remove wedges separately and place close together on prepared racks.
Replace foil, bring up sides and crimp on rack.
Bake 2 1⁄2 hours. Loosen chips, let chips cool on racks. As they cool they become crisp.
Store in airtight container.
