Apple Chips

How do ya like THEM apples?

  • Ingre­di­ents:
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large apples, not peeled

Heat oven to 225°.

Set wire cool­ing rack on foil. Light­ly coat rack with non­stick cook­ing spray.

Put water and sug­ar in saucepan. Bring to a boil, stir­ring until sug­ar dissolves.

Boil vig­or­ous­ly for 5 min­utes until it is a light syrup consistency.

Mean­while, core and quar­ter apples. Cut each quar­ter in 10–12 thin slices.

Put in a large met­al bowl and care­ful­ly add boil­ing syrup.

Toss apples with tongs until well coated.

Remove wedges sep­a­rate­ly and place close togeth­er on pre­pared racks.

Replace foil, bring up sides and crimp on rack.

Bake 2 12 hours. Loosen chips, let chips cool on racks. As they cool they become crisp.

Store in air­tight container.
